Iwakura

Iwakura's night is wrapped in the quiet of a residential area, away from the hustle of Nagoya. Small streets near the station are dotted with snack bars and girls bars, their warm lights spilling out, frequented by local regulars.

Iwakura City is located in northwestern Aichi Prefecture, centered around Iwakura Station on the Meitetsu Inuyama Line. The station area is compact, and you can walk to the main nightlife spots. From Nagoya Station, it's about 15 minutes by express train.

The nightlife hub is the shopping street near the station and its surroundings, with snack bars being the most common. These are small, often run by a single mama-san, and reasonably priced. There are also a few girls bars, which are more casual with younger female staff. Hostess bars (kyabakura) and host clubs are almost nonexistent, and concept cafes are not found here.

Price range: snack bars cost around 3,000–5,000 yen per hour including cover charge; girls bars cost around 2,000–4,000 yen per hour. English support is rare, but it's a great area for those who want to interact with locals.

Access: get off at Iwakura Station on the Meitetsu Inuyama Line. Operating hours: snack bars from 8 PM to around midnight; girls bars from 7 PM to around 1 AM. Weekends are busy, weekdays are quieter.

Note: since Iwakura is a residential area, be mindful of noise late at night. Taxis are available at the station but not many, so it's best to move before the last train.
