Akita City's tourism site sorts its eateries into types such as bars and snack bars or izakaya, and uses Omachi and Kawabata as one of its neighbourhood headings. The site is run by the city's tourism promotion division together with the Akita Convention & Visitors Bureau.
JNTO presents Akita as a capital known for snow, hot springs and good sake. The prefectural government is at Sanno 4-chome, and this site gathers the city's hostess clubs (kyabakura), snack bars and girls bars into its Akita City area.
Akita Station is about 3 hours 50 minutes from Tokyo on the Akita Shinkansen. Flights into Akita Airport take roughly 1 hour 5 minutes from Haneda, an hour from New Chitose and 1 hour 20 minutes from Itami; Odate-Noshiro Airport is roughly 1 hour 20 minutes from Haneda.
