Tenjin / Oyafuko-dori centres on the Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) rail station in Chuo Ward. The national tourism guide locates Oyafuko Street on its northern side, with Daimyo westward and Watanabe-dori eastward.
Rail and bus options include Nishitetsu's Fukuoka (Tenjin) station and its Tenjin Express Bus Terminal. The two subway stations are joined underground: Tenjin serves the Kuko Line, while Tenjin-Minami serves the Nanakuma Line. Street access to Tenjin includes lifts at City Hall, Hakata Daimaru and the new PARCO wing. The airport's guide puts the subway journey from Tenjin at about 10 minutes.
Japan's national tourism organisation describes Tenjin as both a shopping area and a nightlife area. On Oyafuko Street it says only that it lies to the north of Tenjin.

Fukuoka City's ordinance against soliciting and waiting for customers sets no special zones: the prohibition on solicitation, inducement and customer-waiting applies throughout public space in Fukuoka, such as roads, stations and eating establishments.
A separate prefectural ordinance on information offices for hostess venues says offices introducing venues with hostess service must not do so from midnight to 6 a. m. In listed areas such as Daimyo 1 and 2-chome, Tenjin 1 to 3-chome, Nishinakasu and Maizuru, the limit moves to 1 a. m. on certain days.
Tenjin / Oyafuko-dori is generally fine for a night out. The main risk is bottakuri, a padded bill at the end. Stick to venues that post their prices, skip street touts steering you into ‘free’ bars, and confirm the set fee plus any nomination or bottle charges before you order.
