Nishi Ward, Fukuoka City, where the gentle breeze from Hakata Bay blows, is a mix of residential and commercial areas. At night, small snack bars and girls bars light up, where locals gather for a quiet adult time.

Geographically, it's located in the western part of Fukuoka City, about 30 minutes from Tenjin and Hakata via the subway Kuko Line or JR Chikuhi Line. There are large commercial facilities like Marinoa City Fukuoka, but the nightlife is purely local.

The nightlife centers around the Meinohama Station area and Imajuku area. Here, snack bars (snack) are the most common, featuring a homey atmosphere where the mama and regulars chat. There are also a few girls bars (girls bar) where you can drink casually. Kyabakura (hostess bars) and host clubs are almost nonexistent; instead, there are a few concept cafes (con cafe).

Price ranges are reasonable: snack bars charge a cover of 1,000–2,000 yen, girls bars about 2,000–3,000 yen per hour. The clientele is mostly local regulars rather than tourists. English service is not expected, but if you know some Japanese, you can enjoy.

Access: Meinohama Station on the subway is the hub. There are taxi stands in front of the station, but late-night service is limited. Best time is 8 PM to 11 PM; after that, shops start closing.

Etiquette: In snack bars, it's important to enjoy conversation with the mama and other customers. In girls bars, order drinks frequently. Many shops are cash-only, so bring plenty of cash.
