Geographically, restaurants and bars are concentrated around Iizuka Station in the Higashimachi and Nishimachi areas. About an hour by train from Fukuoka City, it's a locally-oriented nightlife district.
The core of the nightlife scene consists of hostess bars (kyabakura), girls bars, and snack bars. There are several hostess bars with reasonable rates of ¥5,000–8,000 per hour. Girls bars are more casual, with cover charges of ¥1,000–2,000. Snack bars are adult social spots where you chat with the mama, costing around ¥2,000–4,000.
There are also a few concept cafes and lounges popular with younger crowds. Many karaoke snack bars let you sing while drinking. Overall, the area has a homey, non-touristy atmosphere.
Access is via JR Chikuho Main Line's Iizuka Station, with many venues within walking distance. If driving, use coin parking.
