Affluent Client

富裕層 · fuyuusou

Also known as: fuyuusou

An everyday Japanese word for people with high incomes and money to spare; nightlife venues use it to describe their clientele, as in fuyuso-muke (富裕層向け, aimed at affluent guests).

Fuyuso is not a nightlife term as such. It is the ordinary word for the well-off, and high-end clubs and lounges borrow it to describe who drinks there: a members-only lounge might say its regulars are affluent, or that the venue is pitched at affluent guests. Read it as a hint about price level and atmosphere rather than as a rule.

A venue using the word does not change how it charges or whom it admits. The bill is still built from the set fee, nomination fees and bottles, and entry depends on reservations or membership, not on income. Check the guide price and notes on the listing and ask the venue directly about anything unclear.

When you'll encounter this

You meet it in venue descriptions and reviews of high-end clubs and lounges, where it describes the clientele.
