Ranking Number

Nanba is a cast member's position in the sales ranking a hostess club or host club compiles, typically every month. It is decided by nominations, dohan, and bottle and champagne sales. Placing near the top is called making the numbers, and the top spot is number one. Venues post the ranking on their website and in the venue and use it in cast profiles, as in "our No. 2".

You do not nominate by quoting a number; nominations are by name. Top-ranked cast members have many nominations, so they sit with you for shorter stretches and are harder to book. A first-time guest will have a better night looking for someone to talk to than chasing the ranking.
