Nishitachi is the eating and drinking quarter in central Miyazaki City; the Miyazaki City Tourism Association calls it the largest entertainment district in the city for local food and drink. Its retro streets are hung with lanterns on both sides, and it is described as lined with places serving local chicken, Miyazaki beef and shochu.
By air, the Miyazaki City Tourism Association gives about 90 minutes from Haneda, 60 from Itami and 45 from Fukuoka. JR trains leave Miyazaki Airport Station for Miyazaki, Nobeoka and Oita, and Nishitachi is about 13 minutes' walk from Miyazaki Station.
Coming by rail from the south, Kagoshima-Chuo to Miyazaki Station takes about 2 hours; from Beppu in the north it is about 3 hours 30 minutes. From Hakata in Fukuoka, a Shinkansen and highway bus combination takes about 3 hours.
