This area is in eastern Saitama, accessible from Tokyo via the Tobu Skytree Line or Musashino Line. Soka, Koshigaya, and Kasukabe stations are the hubs, with nightlife spots clustered around each. The area is spread out but compact per station.
The nightlife centers on traditional snack bars and girls bars. Snack bars are adult social spots where you chat with the mama, costing around 3,000–5,000 yen for two hours. Girls bars have younger staff and a casual vibe. There are also a few hostess bars (kyabakura) with set fees of 5,000–8,000 yen. Concept cafes (con cafe) are increasing, great for anime and cosplay fans.
Koshigaya station area has the highest density of snack bars, packed in back alleys. Kasukabe station west exit has many girls bars, while Soka station east exit has several hostess bars. Overall prices are less than half of Tokyo's, making it great for first-timers.
Access from Tokyo takes 30–40 minutes by train. Last trains are early, so don't drink too much. Taxis are available at stations but scarce late at night. Many places are cash-only, so prepare in advance.
Best time is Friday and Saturday from 8 PM to 11 PM. Some places close early on weekdays. No reservation needed for snack bars, but hostess bars prefer advance booking. English is not widely spoken, so learning a few Japanese phrases helps.
Soka, Koshigaya, Kasukabe runs on table-service venues: kyabakura (hostess clubs), girls bars, and snack bars. You pay a set fee by the hour, with nomination (shimei) and drink charges on top, so check each venue’s all-in price before you sit down.
Soka, Koshigaya, Kasukabe is generally fine for a night out. The main risk is bottakuri, a padded bill at the end. Stick to venues that post their prices, skip street touts steering you into ‘free’ bars, and confirm the set fee plus any nomination or bottle charges before you order.
