Tokushima's ordinance lets venues that entertain guests open until 1 a.m. in Akitamachi, Sakaemachi, Tomidamachi, Takajomachi, Konyamachi and Ryogokubashi in Tokushima City. From Tokyo, Tokushima is about 1 hour 15 minutes by air.

Article 4 of Tokushima's ordinance lets hostess clubs (kyabakura) and other venues that entertain guests stay open until 1 a.m. in the areas of its appended table. They cover Ryogokubashi, Akitamachi 1–2, Konyamachi, Sakaemachi 1–2, Takajomachi 1–2 and Tomidamachi 1–2 in Tokushima City, which is also where the prefectural government sits, in Bandaicho.
Flights from Tokyo by JAL or ANA take about 1 hour 15 minutes; the highway bus takes about 9 hours 50. Buses between Osaka and Tokushima take about 2 hours 30 minutes, as do those from Okayama and Kurashiki, and the JR Kotoku Line limited express links Takamatsu Station in Kagawa with Tokushima in about 1 hour 10.
NIGHT LIFE JAPAN groups the whole prefecture under one area, Tokushima City, so venues in Akitamachi, Tomidamachi and nearby are on that page. Naruto, Anan and the other cities have no areas yet.
Tokushima is generally fine for a night out. The main risk is bottakuri, a padded bill at the end. Stick to venues that post their prices, skip street touts steering you into ‘free’ bars, and confirm the set fee plus any nomination or bottle charges before you order.
