Gotanda is the neighbourhood around Gotanda Station in Shinagawa ward, which the Shinagawa tourism association presents as a busy area of office workers where start-up offices are on the rise.
Gotanda Station brings together Tokyu’s Ikegami Line, Toei’s Asakusa Line and JR’s Yamanote route in the Shinagawa tourism association’s transport account. Its district guide describes the area around this station through the working people passing through it.

It points to the Riverlight Building by the Meguro River, nicknamed Gotanda Hills, and to Higashi-Gotanda's Ichibangai and Nishi-Gotanda's Sakura-dori, mentioning izakaya where people stop after work.

The Metropolitan Police page names Nishi-Gotanda 1- and 2-chome and Higashi-Gotanda 1- and 2-chome in Shinagawa ward as designated touting zones.
