Private Room
個室 · koshitsu
Also known as: koshitsu
A table or room set apart from other guests; at hostess clubs and lounges a room fee or VIP room fee is charged on top.
Koshitsu is a seat or room kept separate from other guests. Hostess clubs and lounges offer them as VIP rooms or private seating, chosen for business entertaining, anniversaries and groups. A room fee is normally added to the set fee, and some venues set a minimum party size or minimum spend.
Because the law restricts fixtures that block the view inside a guest room at licensed hospitality venues, a hostess club's private room is usually a semi-private space divided by partitions rather than a fully closed room. It is a different thing from the private karaoke room at the back of a snack bar or a table at a bar.
Private rooms are few, so if you want one, say so when you book and confirm the fee and conditions.
When you'll encounter this
You meet it when asking at booking whether a private room is available, and in the room fee or VIP room line on a price list.
