At hostess clubs and lounges it mostly means the VIP room or VIP seating, charged as a room fee on top of the set fee.
In nightlife venues VIP mostly refers to a VIP room or VIP seating: a private or partitioned space away from other guests, kept for business entertaining, anniversaries and groups, with a room fee added to the set fee. Some venues attach a minimum party size or minimum spend, so confirm when you book.
Some venues also issue VIP or membership cards to regulars, with benefits such as priority booking or event invitations. These are each venue's own arrangements; there is no industry-wide VIP scheme. If a venue page or price list says VIP, ask the venue what it means there.
