Hiroshima's night centres on Nagarekawa in the city's Naka ward, which the official tourism site presents as the foremost nightlife quarter in all of Chugoku and Shikoku. The prefectural ordinance lets venues that entertain guests open until 1 a.m. in Nagarekawacho, Yagenbori, Ebisucho and the neighbouring blocks.

The Nagarekawa Ginza shopping street runs 300 metres south from the Mitsukoshi entrance, covering parts of Horikawacho, Ebisucho and Nagarekawacho. The tourism site describes Nagarekawa as a lively street of neon and restaurants that draws people from across and beyond the prefecture. By tram, the nearest stop is Hiroden's Ebisucho.
Article 5 of the prefectural ordinance and its appended table let hostess clubs (kyabakura) and other venues that entertain guests stay open until 1 a.m. in Naka ward's Kanayamacho, Ebisucho, Horikawacho, Shintenchi, Nagarekawacho, Yagenbori, Yayoicho, Nishi-Hiratsukacho, Tanakamachi and Mikawacho, some of them only in listed blocks.
The limousine bus between Hiroshima Airport and the Shinkansen exit of Hiroshima Station takes 45 to 50 minutes and costs 1,500 yen one way; another runs from the airport to Hiroshima Bus Center in about 55. Okayama is about 34 minutes east by Shinkansen, and airport buses serve Fukuyama Station (about 65 minutes) and Mihara Station (about 38).

Hiroshima is generally fine for a night out. The main risk is bottakuri, a padded bill at the end. Stick to venues that post their prices, skip street touts steering you into ‘free’ bars, and confirm the set fee plus any nomination or bottle charges before you order.
