Yamashiro Onsen

At night, Yamashiro Onsen takes on a quiet, nostalgic atmosphere as the daytime crowds fade. The stone-paved streets are softly lit by lanterns, and the steam from hot springs mingles with the cool air, creating a serene setting where locals and guests unwind.

Located in the mountains a short distance from central Kaga City, the hot spring town is compact and walkable. The main street is lined with ryokan and souvenir shops, most of which close early, leaving a handful of snack bars and izakayas open into the night.

Nightlife in Yamashiro Onsen is modest and intimate, centered on small snack bars (snack) and izakayas. Unlike larger entertainment districts, there are no hostess bars or host clubs here. Prices are reasonable: snack bars typically charge ¥3,000–5,000 per hour including cover charge.

While nightlife options for tourists are limited, a few local-friendly establishments offer a warm atmosphere where you can chat with regulars. Snack bars often have karaoke, and izakayas serve local sake and Kaga cuisine.

Access is by bus from JR Kaga Onsen Station (about 15 minutes). Most snack bars and izakayas open around 8 PM and close between midnight and 1 AM. It's advisable to check operating hours in advance.
