Marugame's nightlife transforms from the calm daytime castle town atmosphere. In the drinking alleys near the station and Minato-machi backstreets, neon signs light up snack bars and girls bars frequented by local regulars. The vibe is homey, attracting local office workers and craftsmen rather than tourists.

Geographically, the main nightlife areas are the street south of JR Marugame Station and the shopping street around Minato-machi. The station area is compact and walkable, while Minato-machi is a 5-minute taxi ride away.

The nightlife centers on snack bars and girls bars. Snack bars are traditional, with mama-san and regulars enjoying karaoke; prices range from ¥3,000–5,000 per hour. Girls bars have young female staff serving drinks, costing ¥2,000–4,000 per hour. Kyabakura and host clubs are rare, and concept cafes are few.

The scale is small, with enough venues for a few stops in one night. It lacks large nightlife districts like Takamatsu, but it's ideal for those wanting to mingle with locals. Karaoke snack bars are abundant, perfect for singing enthusiasts.

Access is a short walk from JR Marugame Station. Coin parking is available near the station, but do not drink and drive. Best time is Friday and Saturday from 8 PM to 11 PM. Some places close early on weekdays.

Etiquette: In snack bars, enjoy conversation with the mama-san and regulars. In girls bars, confirm cover charges before entering. English is not widely spoken, so basic Japanese phrases help.
