Ina and Suwa

The Ina and Suwa area stretches across southern Nagano Prefecture, with scenic streets centered on Lake Suwa. At night, neon lights illuminate the lakeside and station areas, bustling with locals and tourists.

Geographically, JR Chuo Main Line's Kamisuwa and Shimosuwa stations are key access points, with restaurants and nightlife spots clustered around them. The atmosphere differs between the north and south sides of the lake, with the Kamisuwa area on the north being more lively.

The nightlife scene centers on hostess bars (kyabakura), girls bars, and snack bars. Many hostess bars offer reasonable pricing, making them accessible for first-timers. Girls bars have a casual vibe and are popular with tourists. Snack bars mainly cater to local regulars, but some welcome drop-ins.

Access: from Tokyo, take the Shinkansen to Nagano Station (about 1.5 hours), then a local train to Kamisuwa Station (about 1 hour). By car, use the Suwa IC on the Chuo Expressway. Weekend nights are the busiest, but weekdays also have a pleasant buzz with regulars.
