Oita's night is wrapped in a unique atmosphere where hot spring steam and neon lights mix. Walking through Beppu's hot spring streets, you'll see small snack bars lining the alleys, with karaoke singing spilling out. Both tourists and locals can enjoy a relaxed time here.

Oita Prefecture's nightlife centers on two main areas: Beppu City and Oita City. Beppu is famous for its hot springs, with restaurants and nightlife venues clustered around the station and hot spring districts. Oita City, the prefectural capital, has hostess bars and girls bars concentrated in the entertainment districts of Miyakomachi and Chuo-machi.

In Beppu, snack bars and girls bars are scattered near hot spring inns. Prices are relatively reasonable, around 3,000–5,000 yen per hour. There are a few hostess bars, some with English-speaking staff for tourists. In Oita City's Miyakomachi area, dozens of hostess bars and host clubs line the streets. Typical pricing for hostess bars is 5,000–8,000 yen per hour.

A unique Oita experience is stopping by a snack bar after a hot spring bath. At snack bars, you can enjoy conversation with the mama and regulars. Concept cafes (concept cafes) have also increased in recent years, with anime- or game-themed shops popular among younger tourists.

Access is convenient from Beppu Station on foot. From Oita Station, Miyakomachi is a 10-minute walk. Taxis are also affordable. The best time is 8 PM to 11 PM. Weekends can be crowded, but weekdays are relatively quiet.

Note that snack bars and girls bars may charge separate cover fees or service charges. Check the pricing before entering. Also, shops in hot spring areas tend to close early, so it's best to be out by 11 PM at the latest.
