For Hakata–Oita, JR Kyushu quotes a minimum travel time of 2 hours 1 minute aboard its Sonic limited-express service. Kitakyushu's tourism site puts Oita Station to Kokura Station at about 1 hour 20 minutes by limited express, and buses run from Oita Airport to the Oita Ekimae stop.
