The area sits in central Naha, a short walk from Kokusai-dori. It spreads north across the Kumoji River, comprising two blocks: Matsuyama and Wakasa. The streets are laid out in a grid, making it easy to navigate.
Nightlife here is dominated by kyabakura hostess bars and girls bars. Kyabakura range from upscale to casual, with prices around 3,000–5,000 yen per 30 minutes. Girls bars are more relaxed, with cover charges of 1,000–2,000 yen. Snack bars are also plentiful, offering a Showa-era vibe where you can sing karaoke with the mama and regulars.
It's one of Naha's largest nightlife districts, with over 100 establishments packed together. Weekends see heavy crowds. While some places now have English menus, Japanese is still the main language.
Access: about 15 minutes by monorail from Naha Airport, get off at Kenchō-mae Station and walk 5 minutes. A taxi from the airport costs around 1,500 yen. Best time: 8 PM to 1 AM. Fridays and Saturdays are busiest.
