Shizuoka City / Yaizu / Fujieda / Shimada

As night falls in Shizuoka City, snack bars and girls bars begin to light up, drawing locals after work. In Yaizu, Fujieda, and Shimada, the streets near the stations glow with neon, filled more with regulars' laughter than tourists.

This area spreads across central Shizuoka Prefecture, with Shizuoka City as the core, and Yaizu, Fujieda, and Shimada scattered nearby. Each city is within 20–30 minutes by train: from Shizuoka Station to Yaizu Station about 15 minutes, to Fujieda about 20 minutes, and to Shimada about 30 minutes.

The nightlife centers on hostess bars and girls bars. In Shizuoka City, Kurematsucho and Shichikencho streets are dense with hostess bars, while Yaizu Station front and Fujieda Station north exit have clusters of girls bars and snack bars. Around Shimada Station, quieter snack bars dominate. A few concept cafes also exist, attracting anime and game fans.

Price-wise, hostess bars run 5,000–8,000 yen per hour, girls bars 3,000–5,000 yen—reasonable compared to Tokyo or Osaka. Snack bars are adult social spots where you chat with the mama; even first-timers are warmly welcomed.

Access is via Shizuoka Station as a hub. Use the JR Tokaido Line to reach each area. By car, Shizuoka City has many paid parking lots; in Yaizu and Fujieda, coin parking near stations is convenient.

Friday and Saturday nights are best. The places buzz with local office workers and are friendly to visitors. While English menus are rare in hostess and girls bars, a translation app on your phone will suffice.
