Kodaira

Kodaira's nightlife offers a relaxed pace away from central Tokyo's bustle. The small drinking streets near the station are lined with snack bars and girls bars frequented by locals, functioning more as community social spots than tourist attractions.

Centered around Kodaira Station, bars are scattered at the north and south exits. The north exit shopping street has many old-style snack bars with a Showa-era feel, while the south exit has a mix of newer girls bars and izakayas.

The main nightlife options are snack bars and girls bars. Snack bars involve chatting with the mama or hostesses, costing around 3,000–5,000 yen per hour. Girls bars are more casual, with cover charges of 1,000–2,000 yen and drinks at 500–1,000 yen. Kyabakura and host clubs are almost nonexistent, and concept cafes are few.

Kodaira's nightlife suits those who prefer a homey atmosphere over flashiness. In snack bars, you can enjoy karaoke and easily mingle with regulars. Girls bars have young staff who chat casually.

Access is convenient via the Seibu Shinjuku Line to Kodaira Station, about 20 minutes express from Shinjuku. Snack bars typically operate from 8 PM to midnight, girls bars from 7 PM to 1 AM. Saturday nights are busiest.

Note that Kodaira is a residential area, so keep noise down late at night. Some snack bars require reservations, so calling ahead is recommended for first-timers.
