Kofu

Kofu's nightlife is low-key and homey, with neon lights softly glowing near the station. Locals drop into snack bars and girls bars after work, and since few tourists come here, you can experience an authentic slice of Japanese nightlife.

The entertainment area is compact and centered around Kofu Station. The north exit has a cluster of snack bars and hostess bars, while the south exit and Chuo-dori street have girls bars and izakayas. Everything is within walking distance.

The main nightlife options are snack bars and girls bars. Snack bars are small, often run by a single mama, with prices around ¥3,000–5,000 per hour. Girls bars are staffed by young women and cost ¥2,000–4,000 per hour. There are a few hostess bars near the station, charging ¥5,000–8,000 per hour.

Concept cafes and host clubs are almost nonexistent. Instead, the area preserves a traditional snack bar culture where regulars chat with the mama. Even if you speak only a little Japanese, you'll quickly feel welcome.

Access is easy: from Tokyo, take the limited express Azusa (about 1.5 hours). Most venues are within a 5-minute walk from Kofu Station. Friday and Saturday nights are best, with peak hours from 8 PM to 11 PM. Many places are closed on Sundays.

Dress code is casual, but some snack bars require you to remove shoes, so wear clean socks. Hostess bars and girls bars may charge a cover fee, so it's wise to ask before entering.
