Nippori is the area around Nippori Station, which GO TOKYO presents as known for the Nippori Textile District, Tokyo's fabric town, and for its temple grounds.
Nippori Station is one of the entry points into Yanaka named in GO TOKYO’s Yanaka and Nezu guide. The guide also identifies Nezu and Sendagi stations with the Chiyoda Line, presenting these stations as ways into the old downtown neighbourhoods.
GO TOKYO uses “fabric town” to describe Nippori’s textile district, and also highlights the area’s temple precincts and Arakawa Yuen. New directory entries for Nippori will be displayed here. The current wider-area listings sit on Ueno/Asakusa/Nippori, with a district page for Ueno / Okachimachi / Yushima.
Nippori is not named anywhere in the police list of touting-zone blocks. The rule comes from the Tokyo nuisance-prevention ordinance and applies only to public places within the areas the commission has named. The list dates from 31 March 2016.
Nippori is generally fine for a night out. The main risk is bottakuri, a padded bill at the end. Stick to venues that post their prices, skip street touts steering you into ‘free’ bars, and confirm the set fee plus any nomination or bottle charges before you order.
Payment methods vary by venue. Check the listing and confirm with the venue before booking.
