Chiba City's tourism association published the 'Night Chiba' map of drinking spots around Chiba Station in 2024, and the city treats Fujimi 2-chome in Chuo ward as its nightlife district. Find hostess clubs and snack bars in Chiba, Makuhari, Funabashi, Kashiwa and other areas.

On 13 February 2024 the Chiba City Tourism Association published the 'Night Chiba' drinking map, featuring eleven traditional drinking spots in the back streets around Chiba Station; 10,000 copies are handed out, mainly through hotels in the city. The city calls Fujimi 2-chome in Chuo ward, near the station, a busy nightlife district and has installed 32 security cameras there.
Makuhari New Town in Mihama ward is a 522.2-hectare planned district that began with the opening of Makuhari Messe in 1989. Its gateway, Kaihin-Makuhari Station on the JR Keiyo Line, opened in 1986. For a drink after an exhibition or event, look under the Makuhari New Town and Mihama Ward areas of Chiba City.
The Chiba City Tourism Association gives about 30 minutes from Tokyo Station to Chiba Station on the JR Sobu Rapid Line, and about 42 minutes from Tokyo Station to Soga by Keiyo Line rapid. Maihama to Kaihin-Makuhari takes about 25 minutes on the Keiyo Line.
From Narita Airport, the Narita Express reaches Chiba Station in about 30 minutes, and highway buses reach Kaihin-Makuhari in about 45. From Haneda, the highway bus to Kaihin-Makuhari takes about 55 minutes, so if you stay in Makuhari you can go straight there from the airport.

Chiba City's ordinance on preventing touting came fully into force on 1 April 2022, and the Fujimi district of Chuo ward and the JR Kaihin-Makuhari Station district are no-touting zones. Touts who break it face guidance and penalties, and those who ignore an order can have their name and address published. Ignore street touts and choose a venue yourself.
Chiba is generally fine for a night out. The main risk is bottakuri, a padded bill at the end. Stick to venues that post their prices, skip street touts steering you into ‘free’ bars, and confirm the set fee plus any nomination or bottle charges before you order.
