First Visit

Shokai means your first visit to a given venue. To let new guests try the place, many hostess clubs and host clubs offer a first-visit price that is lower than the normal set fee, often as a time-limited first-visit set, which is why you are asked at the door whether it is your first time. The first-visit price applies once per person; from the second visit the normal price applies.

On a first visit several cast members usually take turns at your table; if you like one you can make an in-store nomination there and then, or nominate her properly next time. At host clubs, once you choose your host on a first visit most venues will not let you change, so there is no need to rush a nomination.

Going from venue to venue only for the first-visit price is known in the trade as shokai arashi and is frowned upon, but using the first-visit price at a venue that is new to you is perfectly normal.
