Host

A host is a male staff member who entertains female customers through conversation and table service. Host clubs operate under the Fueiho Type 1 classification, meaning they are licensed table-service nightlife establishments. Charges are based on time, drinks, and optional nomination fees.

The typical experience begins when a host joins your table upon entry. You spend time chatting, playing games, or simply enjoying the atmosphere. Most clubs operate a nomination system, where you can request a specific host for a more personalized experience. Hosts typically earn commission based on the number of nominations and drink sales they generate.

Pricing varies by club, but a standard set course (usually one hour including drinks) ranges from ¥5,000 to ¥10,000. Nomination fees are typically ¥1,000 to ¥5,000. Additional costs come from buying drinks for your host—called "drink backs"—which can range from reasonably priced cocktails to expensive bottles of champagne.

Etiquette is important: exchanging contact information or meeting outside the club (called "dohan") is governed by each club's rules. First-time visitors should clarify the pricing structure upfront and set a budget to avoid surprises.
