Aso Ward (around Shin-Yurigaoka)

When you exit Shin-Yurigaoka Station, a spacious pedestrian deck and orderly streetscape spread out. This area, bustling with families during the day, changes its atmosphere at night. In alleys a short walk from the station and on the second and third floors of buildings, adult night spots quietly light up.

Aso Ward is located in the northwestern part of Kawasaki City, and Shin-Yurigaoka Station is a major stop on the Odakyu Line. The area around the station is lined with commercial facilities and condominiums, but step into the backstreets and you'll find quiet residential neighborhoods. As a nightlife district, it's small-scale and centered on locally rooted establishments.

The nightlife around Shin-Yurigaoka is mainly snack bars and girls bars. Within a 5-minute walk from the station, there are about 10 snack bars and 5-6 girls bars. Prices are reasonable: snack bars charge a cover of 1,000-2,000 yen, and girls bars cost around 1,500-2,500 yen per 30 minutes. Kyabakura and host clubs are almost nonexistent.

There are also a few concept cafes and lounges, but flashy neon signs are rare, giving the area a calm, adult social scene. Many regulars are locals, so it's more of a place for office workers after work or nearby residents to drop by casually, rather than a tourist destination.

Access is on foot from Shin-Yurigaoka Station on the Odakyu Line. With your back to the station rotary, head into the alleys on the south exit side where shops are concentrated. The best time to visit is after 8 PM on Friday or Saturday. Many places are closed on Sundays, so be aware.

English menus and foreigner-friendly service are almost nonexistent. If you don't speak Japanese, prepare a translation app on your smartphone. Also, in snack bars, conversation with the mama and regulars is the main entertainment, so it suits those who enjoy communication.
