Tempaku Ward / Mizuho Ward / Midori Ward

Tempaku, Mizuho, and Midori wards are residential areas in southern Nagoya, lacking flashy entertainment districts for tourists. However, local snack bars and girls bars dot the area, offering a quiet yet homey nightlife experience frequented by regulars.

Access from Nagoya Station or Sakae takes 30 minutes to 1 hour by subway or bus. Tempaku Ward is served by the Tsurumai Line, Mizuho Ward by the Meijo and Sakura-dori Lines, and Midori Ward by the Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line. Small drinking streets are within walking distance from each station.

The nightlife scene is dominated by local snack bars and girls bars. Snack bars are often run by a single mama, charging around 2,000–4,000 yen per hour. Girls bars have hostesses serving drinks, averaging 3,000–5,000 yen per hour. Kyabakura and host clubs are rare.

A few concept cafes and lounges exist, but overall the scale is small, and you won't find flashy neon signs. Instead, the charm lies in the relaxed atmosphere and interaction with locals. Karaoke snack bars are common, where singing is part of the experience.

Access from Nagoya Station or Sakae takes 30 minutes to 1 hour by subway. Last trains are relatively early, so consider taking a taxi. Walking or taxi is convenient within the area.

When visiting, check the location of the bar in advance and respect local customs. In snack bars, chatting with the mama and regulars is key. English is rarely spoken, so learning a few Japanese phrases will help.
