Where the nightlife is

Susukino is the centre of nightlife in Sapporo. It surrounds Susukino Station on the Namboku subway line, a four-minute ride from JR Sapporo Station. Most of the city's night venues are here, stacked floor by floor in multi-tenant buildings: hostess clubs (kyabakura), girls bars, snack bars, lounges, concept cafes and host clubs.

Outside Susukino, local snack bars and girls bars are scattered around Kita-24-jo and Asabu on the Namboku line, Kotoni on the Tozai line, Teine on the JR Hakodate main line, and the eastern districts of Motomachi-Mikaho and Shiroishi-Atsubetsu. Pick an area from the list below.

Getting around

Sapporo Station, Odori and Susukino line up on the Namboku subway line; from New Chitose Airport, take the JR rapid train to Sapporo Station. Note that Susukino Station is on the Namboku line and Hosui-Susukino Station, about 300 m east, is on the Toho line. There is no underground passage between them.

About street touts

Sapporo's touting-prevention ordinance has been fully in force since July 2022. In the zone between Kita-8-jo and Minami-7-jo, Nishi-7-chome and Sosei-gawa-dori, street touting and waiting for customers are banned for every business type, with a fine of up to 50,000 yen for ignoring an order. Do not follow anyone who approaches you on the street; choose a venue yourself and walk in.
