Motomachi · Mikaho

Motomachi and Mikaho are a local-oriented nightlife area in Sapporo's Higashi Ward, set in a quiet residential district. Around Motomachi and Shindo-Higashi stations on the Toho Subway Line, snack bars and girls bars are scattered, bustling with regulars rather than tourists.

The area stretches east-west, with shops concentrated along main streets. Within walking distance from stations, neon signs light up at night, creating a calm atmosphere.

The nightlife centers on snack bars and girls bars. Snack bars offer a homey space with mama-san and regulars, where you can enjoy karaoke and light conversation. Girls bars are more casual, with drink-based pricing (around 2,000–3,000 yen per hour). Kyabakura and host clubs are almost nonexistent, and concept cafes are few.

While the number of shops is small, each has its own character. Prices are reasonable, and tourist traps are rare. The crowd is mainly local office workers and regulars, making it easy for first-timers to enter.

Access is convenient via the Toho Subway Line. It's a 5–10 minute walk from Motomachi or Shindo-Higashi stations. Bus routes are also available, and coin parking for cars. Friday and Saturday nights are liveliest, but weekdays also have a decent local crowd.

Note that few shops offer English service, so check in advance if you don't speak Japanese. Also, be mindful of noise late at night in this residential area. Follow local rules and enjoy.
