Fujigaoka/Aobadai/Tana

Fujigaoka, Aobadai, and Tana are three stations along the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line, set in quiet residential neighborhoods. At night, small buildings near the stations light up, offering a homey atmosphere where local regulars gather, far from the flashiness of central Tokyo.

The area belongs to Aoba Ward, Yokohama, with Fujigaoka Station as the hub, while Aobadai and Tana are within walking distance. Each station has a small shopping street, and nightlife venues are concentrated within a few minutes' walk from the exits.

The nightlife scene centers on table-service venues like hostess bars (kyabakura), girls bars, and snack bars. There are a few hostess bars with reasonable prices, making them accessible for first-timers. Girls bars have a casual vibe, sometimes attracting young female customers. Snack bars are frequented by local regulars, offering a mature social space to chat with the mama.

The total number of venues is modest, but each has its own character, with many independently owned rather than chain establishments. Typical prices: hostess bars around ¥5,000–8,000 per hour, girls bars ¥3,000–5,000, and snack bars ¥2,000–4,000.

Access is via the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line; from Shibuya, take an express train to Fujigaoka (about 25 minutes). Venues are right outside the ticket gates, so you won't get lost. Friday and Saturday nights are best, when local office workers and groups fill the places.

Note that this is a residential area, so keep noise down late at night. Japanese is the main language, but some venues have basic English. For beginners, look at the signs near the station and choose a place that seems welcoming.
