Kamiooka / Nagaya

At night, Kamiooka and Nagaya feel like a local secret. The warm lights of snack bars dot the quiet residential streets as regulars drop in after work. There are no flashy neon signs—just an understated, adult hideaway atmosphere.

The area centers on Kamiooka Station, served by the Yokohama Municipal Subway Blue Line and the Keikyu Main Line. The station front has commercial facilities, but the nightlife unfolds in the back alleys a short walk away. Nagaya is even quieter, with snack bars that cater to local regulars.

The nightlife scene is dominated by snack bars and girls bars. There are almost no kyabakura or host clubs, and only a few concept cafes. Snack bars are social spots for adults to chat with the mama or regulars, with reasonable prices. Girls bars offer casual service from young female staff.

The number of venues is small, but each has its own character. Many snack bars have karaoke, while girls bars are drink-focused and easy to drop into. Prices range from ¥3,000–5,000 per hour at snack bars (including cover charge) and ¥2,000–4,000 at girls bars.

Access is convenient via Kamiooka Station. The Keikyu Line and subway connect to Yokohama Station in about 10 minutes and Shinagawa in about 20. For night exploration, head to the back alleys west of the station. Nagaya is best reached by bus or taxi, though it's a 30-minute walk.

Friday and Saturday nights are the liveliest. Since it's a residential area, keep noise down. Some snack bars require reservations, so call ahead if it's your first time. English is rarely spoken, so bring a translation app if you don't speak Japanese.
