Fukushima

Fukushima is an office district just one stop from Osaka Station, but at night it transforms into a lively nightlife spot filled with local office workers and regulars. Around JR Fukushima Station, narrow alleys are packed with restaurants and bars, offering reasonable prices.

The area centers on JR Fukushima Station, with shopping streets and drinking districts spreading east and west. The north side has many office buildings, while the south side features renovated old townhouses. Being slightly away from the main Kita entertainment district, it attracts more local regulars than tourists.

The nightlife scene is dominated by table-service venues such as hostess bars (kyabakura), girls bars, and snack bars. Hostess bars are concentrated in buildings near the station, with rates around ¥5,000–8,000 per hour, affordable for Osaka. Girls bars have a casual atmosphere where you can drink with female staff. Snack bars are cozy spaces run by a mama, often with karaoke.

Fukushima is also famous as a "ramen battleground" with many ramen shops open late, perfect for a post-drink meal. Izakayas and bars are abundant, making it enjoyable solo or in groups.

Access is convenient via JR Fukushima Station, one stop from Osaka Station or a 15-minute walk. Subway Sennichimae Line's Tamagawa Station and Noda-Hanshin Station are also within walking distance. The best time to visit is Friday or Saturday night, but weekdays are also busy with office workers.

Note that hostess bars and girls bars require age verification, so bring your passport. Some snack bars may require reservations, so calling ahead is recommended.
