Tennoji/Abeno covers the area around the Tennoji terminal, where JR lines meet Osaka Metro and several private railways.
On the Midosuji Line, Tennoji Station (M23) offers transfers to JR, Hankai and Kintetsu services, as well as the Tanimachi Line (T27). Riding the Tanimachi Line instead, the stops on either side of Tennoji are Abeno (T28) on one side and Shitennoji-mae Yuhigaoka (T26) on the other.
The Tennoji Ward overview says the shopping streets, department stores and underground arcades around the terminal keep commerce busy, and describes the area as one of Osaka's leading shopping and entertainment districts.

The municipal ordinance aims, as Osaka City explains, to let everyone walk through and use its streets with peace of mind. Its designated road zones restrict street touting across all trades. Disregarding the city's guidance or an order may incur a non-criminal penalty, with 50,000 yen as the maximum.
Tennoji/Abeno is generally fine for a night out. The main risk is bottakuri, a padded bill at the end. Stick to venues that post their prices, skip street touts steering you into ‘free’ bars, and confirm the set fee plus any nomination or bottle charges before you order.
